6:34 神通閥門，神州大地的“鐵將軍 來自南通雙語資訊 From its beginnings as a mill making farm tools to its current standing as a leading company in the manufacture of energy conservation and environmental protection equipment, Jiangsu Shentong Valve Co Ltd has achieved much in the past 15 years.
Founded in Nantong in January 2001, the company has evolved into a leader in environmental protection.
In 2010, it was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, becoming the first valve company in the country to go public.
Wu Jianxin, board chairman of Shentong, attributes the company’s success to its constant pursuit of technological breakthroughs.
Pointing at a line of silver valves lying in front of a company workshop, Wu said the new liquefied natural gas valves are a high-tech product that fills a void in the domestic market.
“Their quality can match that of similar products from the West,” he said.
A series of strict standards have to be reached to meet the requirements of the LNG industry, he said.
For many years, Chinese companies in the LNG field have had to use valves provided by foreign companies, Wu said.吳建新說，長期以來，LNG低溫係列閥門市場都被進口閥門所壟斷。Shentong has invested heavily in research and development in the field.
The company has allotted nearly 10 million yuan ($1.54 million) to build a laboratory— the largest of its kind in the country — to test valves at low temperature.公司投資近1000萬元(154萬美元)建立的國內規模最大低溫閥門深冷試驗室。
Zhang Qingshuang, the chief engineer of Shentong, heads a team consisting of 15 researchers.
From molds to the assembly of parts, the team has researched the best material compositions to meet the requirements of low temperature storage of LNG.
The valves have been released on the market and been well received for their high quality and reasonable price, which is about onethird lower than similar products from abroad.
All of the LNG stations in Shandong run by Sinopec, one of the largest petrochemical companies in the country, have begun to use Shentong’s valves.
The company has also invested more than 10 million yuan to build a lab to test flow resistance and volume. It is claimed to be the largest and most advanced lab of its kind.
“Innovation is in the company’s blood,” Wu said.
Shentong has invested more than 20 million yuan annually in research and development in recent years, he said.
The company has also been granted 183 patents.
Its valves account for 90 percent of those used in China’s nuclear power industry.
More than 70 percent of valves in the nation’s metal industry are also produced by Shentong.
Wu said the company adopted a system of “model workers” to inspire innovation among its employees.吳建新告訴我們，為激勵員工創新，公司采用了“標杆員工”製度。
The company has more than 40 such model workers who have made huge contributions to the company in recent years.
From workers on production lines to chief engineers in labs, their hard work has led to the success of Shentong, Wu said.
Each year, the company holds competitions to encourage workers to come up with ideas to save costs or improve designs.
